Senior Vice President
Matthew Smith currently serves as Senior Vice President for the Cyber Risk Institute. Previously, he was the CEO and Founder of Seemless Transition LLC. In this role, he provided cybersecurity risk management services to many government agencies (NIST, DoE CESER, INL, SSA) as well as served as virtual CISO for telecommunications companies.
Prior to creating Seemless Transition, Mr. Smith oversaw the contractor team at G2, Inc. to fulfill Executive Order 13636 at NIST which led to the creation of the Cybersecurity Framework. In that role, he also wrote numerous publications for NIST with topics ranging from enterprise risk management, cybersecurity workforce management, mapping, IoT, and event recovery. Mr. Smith is also the lead editor of ISO 27110 – Cybersecurity framework development guidelines.
Mr. Smith has also spent years developing data formats for cybersecurity information systems and developing ML/AI systems. He has created large scale data analytics platforms while also developing process automation to drive efficiency.
Mr. Smith graduated from The University of Virginia with a B.S. in Information and Systems Engineering and earned a M.S. in Cyber Policy from University of Maryland, University Campus. He currently resides in Seattle, Washington.
