Ann Lavis

EVP, Global Head of Entities - Resilience Risk, HSBC

Ann Lavis is the EVP, Global Head of Entities – Resilience Risk for HSBC since 2019. Ann joined HSBC’s (then Marine Midland Bank) Information Technology area in 1985, managing a team within Computer Operations and the Disaster Recovery Program. In 1998, Ann transferred to Information Security, where she held various US and Global roles to include Head of Global Banking & Markets Information Security, Global Head of Third Party Security Risk & Business Controls Global Head of Assurance and, most recently, US Head of Information and Cyber Security Risk. Ann’s current responsibilities include leading oversight and engagement with all Regional, Country and Entity level senior stakeholders for resilience related risk stewardship, ensuring that operational resilience and strong risk management is embedded, enabling safe growth.

Ann has worked very closely with Bank Policy Institute (BPI) and members of the Financial Sector to develop and drive implementation of the Financial Services Sector Cybersecurity (FSSC) Profile within the US. She continues to work with the Institute of International Finance (IIF), advocating the benefits of using the profile and providing recommendations on implementation approach as she works internally to implement the profile on a global platform.
