Angela Patel

Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risks

Angela Patel is a Senior Vice President for the Cyber Risk Institute (CRI). In this role, Angela is responsible for developing and maintaining an industry-wide AI Risk Management Framework tailored to the financial sector. She is currently developing an Enterprise Technology Risk Management Framework and Taxonomy that aligns AI, cybersecurity, and other enterprise technology-related risks.

Prior to joining CRI, Angela built and led the ERM program at Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, she advised the Board of Directors, executives, auditors, and global regulators on material governance, risk, and compliance topics spanning Security, Infrastructure, Products and Services, and Corporate Functions.

Prior to joining AWS, Angela managed large risk programs at both Capital One and Pentagon Federal Credit Union, and established Deloitte’s ERM Center of Excellence in the Middle East and North Africa. In each of these roles, Angela worked with internal and external customers to develop scalable risk solutions including strategy, policy, ongoing assessments, tactical remediation, data and technology integration, regulatory readiness, and multi-stakeholder reporting.

Angela has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Kentucky and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University. She supports the ERM degree programs at both Columbia University and NC State University as a regular guest lecturer. She holds NACD Directorship, Six Sigma Black Belt, and Business Continuity certifications. Angela is on the boards of PATH Int’l, the National Defense University Foundation, and the Lift Me Up Organization. She currently resides in Leesburg, VA.
